Can I pick the Venue?
You may choose any Venue you like.  Our only requirement is that it have adequate chairs and tables with at least enough empty (random) seats for actors use (varies depending on show). As no stage is used with our productions, actors must have ample space to move between tables to interact with audience members and one another. Actors will need a "green room" area for costume changes, etc. An additional small table will also be needed in the room for the sound equipment and sound person.

Served Dinner or Buffet?
Our shows work well with both served and buffet dinners, it's your choice.  You can serve  the food any way you like.

Do I have to feed the Actors?
Yes.  The actors are in the room during dinner, seated with the guests and this helps to maintain the integrity of the premise of the show, so we ask that the Actors and Crew also be provided meals.

Do the Actors serve the meals?
No.  Our Actors are not servers.

Who handles ticket sales?
You can handle all ticket sales, Murder In Mind can do it or a combination of the two.  We will need a guest count 24 hrs before the performance so that we can create the show materials for each guest.

Who handles advertising and publicity?
You can handle part or all of the advertising and publicity for your event.  If you are a Non-Profit organization, it is best that your organization originate the advertising and publicity material for your event because newspapers, radio and television stations generally have much better rates for non-profit organizations.  We can provide you with flyers, posters, press releases and artwork as required (additional charges may apply).

Is there time during the show to make announcements, awards etc regarding our organization?
Yes.  We have enough breaks built into our shows that there is ample time for this.

Are there any special access requirements to the Venue?
We require access to the Venue prior to signing the Contract to be sure that it is suitable for the show.  Additionally, we need access to the Venue 2 hours before showtime for setup and preparation.

Tell me about a typical show?
Shows last approximately 2 hours depending on the amount of audience participation.  All actors are in character from the time the doors open until the end of the performance.
The only constant time is the approximate time dinner is served.  From that point on, times vary depending on the size of the audience and the amount of audience participation.  We can provide approximate dinner time (+/- a couple of minutes) for planning purposes.  We also provide a program and dossier for each guest.
Here is a typical scenario:
½ hour before showtime - Guest check-in and seating, cocktails - Actors mingle with guests.
Scene 1 - 8 to 15 minutes - Scripted dialog - Possible Murder.
Dinner Break - time varies depending on size of audience - Actors mingle with guests.
Scene 2 - 10 to 20 minutes Scripted dialog - Possible Murder.
Bar break - clear tables - Actors mingle with guests
Scene 3 - 10 to 20 minutes - Scripted dialog - Possible Murder.
Dessert Break - Bribe Clues - Audience members bribe their favorite suspect (Actors) for additional clues using money provided in their dossier.  Actors mingle with guests.  Happy Birthday and or Happy Anniversary if needed.
Scene 4 - 10 to 20 minutes - Scripted dialog - Possible Murder.
Bar Break - Clear tables - Actors mingle with guests.
Scene 5 - Interrogation of Suspects - Scripted dialog with time for guests to question each suspect - length of time varies depending on amount of audience participation.
Bar Break - Clear tables - Guests fill out "Crime Report" form in dossier indicating Murderer, weapon, motive etc.  Actors mingle with guests and collect dossiers (crime reports).
Final Scene - Resolution -  Who Dun It?
Bows and awards to the person who came closest to the truth on their crime report.

How long do the shows last?
Our shows last approximately 2 hours depending on audience size and amount of audience participation.

Do the guests HAVE to participate?
No, you can participate as much or as little as you like.  (The voyeur at heart will be happy to know that passively watching our shows IS possible).

Do you perform on a stage?
No.  The action takes place in the audience as you become a part of the show.   We perform throughout the room, before, during and after dinner is served. The audience becomes part of the cast as crimes are committed and a mystery is solved. Guests have the opportunity to question suspects -- and may even become one!

Are these shows suitable for children?
Our shows are meant for adults.  If your child can sit still and pay attention for a couple of hours they should be fine.  Some shows contain offensive language and/or sexual innuendo.  We post a "May not be suitable for children" on our ads and flyers etc. for Productions that may not be suitable for children.  Otherwise, we have found that the parent is the best judge.  If you are concerned please ask.  We will be happy to tell you the type of content for the show you are planning to attend.

Are there loud gunshots during the performance?
It depends on the show being performed.  Murder weapons can be guns, knives, poison, ropes or any weapon used in real life murders.

Do you use professional Actors?
Yes.  Our Actors are paid to do every performance.
